Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos: The New Paradise

Kapatagan, formerly Rizal, is a barangay in the city of Digos, in the province of Davao del Sur. Barangay Kapatagan was created into a regular barrio though Republic Act 6210 last June 19, 1971. A unique barangay situated within the Natural Park. Kapatagan lies on the eastern part of Mt. Apo, and North of Digos with its boundary from the Northeast of the Municipality of Sta. Cruz; On the Southeast lays the Municipality of Bansalan with a distance of Twenty Eight (28) kilometers away from the heart of Digos City.


My family and I went to Brgy. Kapatagan for a family bonding. The first time we went out of the city together during pandemic. The places we went were Camp Sabros and Jardin de Señorita Mountain Resort.



CAMB SABROS

Camp Sabros Mountain resort is located in the highlands of Sitio Barras, Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur. A part of the country’s highest peak – Mt. Apo, Camp Sabros boasts of zip line facilities with highest elevation and is among the very first outdoor adventure parks to offer zip-line adventure rides in the country.


HOW TO GET THERE?

Two to three hours away from downtown Davao City. To go there via public transportation, catch a Cotabato or General Santos bound bus in Davao’s Ecoland Bus Terminal in Matina (~P75). Alight at the New Digos City Terminal and proceed to the Old Digos Terminal by tricycle (~P20). From there you can ride a van or a motorcycle locally called habal-habal to get to the Sitio Barras Checkpoint/DENR Station (~P75) where you need to walk approximately one kilometer uphill to get to Camp Sabros.


SCHEDULES/RATES:

Entrance fee is FREE.

Grilling and Other Dining Facilities – 500Php/Cottage(per night).

Rides starts at 150 pesos.


JARDIN DE SENORITA Jardin De Señorita is the newest tourist destination in Digos City, Davao Del Sur. Located at Barangay Bacoco, Kapatagan. Breathtaking mountain views and glamorous colorful flowers are the highlight in Jardin De Senorita. Add to that is different color dwarf housed with another mountain view at the back of it.


HOW TO GET THERE?

From Davao City, go to Ecoland Bus Terminal going to Digos City or Cotabato bound Bus ( 80 to 100 pesos ). From Digos City Bus Terminal you can ride tricycle (25 pesos) going to the old Bus Terminal to ride a van going to Kapatagan ( 100 to 120 pesos ). Or you can hire habal-habal going direct to Jardin De Senorita for 200 to 250 pesos. You can also use Bansalan road much lesser fee.


SCHEDULE/RATES:

Jardin De Senorita Entrance Fee: 100 pesos per person. Operational time 8am to 1pm.

a. Lock Up Your Valuables

b. Ask Locals For Advice

c. Don’t Share Too Much With Strangers

d. Do not bring so much money

e. Stay aware of your surroundings

f. Ask your hotel manager for advice on 'safe' versus 'unsafe' local areas.

g. Keep a photocopy of your passport and all other important documents in a safe place

h. Don't wear flashy jewelry

i. Don't share taxis with strangers.

j. Always lock your hotel door when retiring for the night.

k. Even if you're not sure where you're going, walk like you've got a purpose
